What Is the Difference Between Batana Oil and Castor Oil?

Batana oil and castor oil are common vegetable oils, but they have different characteristics and applications.

Batana oil has a light texture and quick absorption, and it does not cause a noticeable heavy feeling after use. And it can penetrate deep into the hair cuticle, the hair shaft and the skin, enabling your product to deeply repair and rebuild damaged hair and skin.

In contrast, castor oil shows a higher viscosity, a thick skin feel and requires blending with other vegetable oils for use. It is mainly used to promote blood circulation in the scalp, stimulate hair follicle activity, and lock in moisture.

You can also combine batana oil with castor oil for use to create a more balanced and comfortable usage experience, and to add a sense of luxury and functional differentiation for your product.

How Stable Is Batana Oil? Does It Oxidize Easily?

Compared with high unsaturated fatty acid vegetable oils such as grape seed oil and rosehip oil, our batana oil can provide you with better natural oxidation stability. Its high content of natural vitamin E and antioxidant components can delay the oil oxidation.

However, batana oil is still essentially a natural vegetable oil. Under conditions of long-term exposure to air, high temperature, ultraviolet rays or humid environments, it may still happen color deepening odor changes or a decrease in active components.

It is recommended for you to use light-proof containers and store them in a cool and dry place. For high-end products or projects with long shelf life requirements, it is necessary to add natural antioxidants (such as vitamin E) which can extend stability  and also ensure your final formula’s safety and efficacy.

Can Batana Oil Be Blended with Other Oils or Actives?

Yes. Our batana oil demonstrates excellent compatibility in the formulation development process. You can use it together with most vegetable oils, emulsifying systems, cold blending oils, and lipid-soluble active ingredients. And during the product’s development, it can be easily integrated into the existing formulation system without requiring significant adjustments to the production process as well.

Whether it is the cold blending process, emulsification process, high-temperature filling process, or cream product production, our batana oil can provide you with good stability.

Common popular combinations include: Batana Oil + Rosemary Oil,Batana Oil + Castor Oil, Batana Oil + Argan Oil,Batana Oil + Coconut Oil,Batana Oil + Peppermint Oil, Batana Oil + Tea Tree Oil.

If you have a clear market positioning or product planning, we can also give more suitable blending formula and raw material combinations.

What Is the Recommended Addition Ratio of Batana Oil?

Our batana oil can be flexibly adjusted according to your product positioning, cost budget, and target efficacy. The following are the commonly used reference ranges in the industry:

  • For daily non-washing hair care oil, usually add batana oil at 3%–8%, with the remaining part combined with light base oils (such as fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, or argan oil). So that it can maintain the repair effect without causing excessive greasiness.
  • For hair masks and hair sprays, It is usually recommended to add 5%–12%. A higher proportion of batana oil can enhance your products’ nourishing and repairing features.
  • For hair scalp essence, it is recommended to add 2%–5%
  • For body lotion and repair cream,It is recommended to add 1%–4%.
  • For Body care oil and massage oil,It is usually added at 2%–6%.
