Essential oil inhalation is commonly used for respiratory issue relief and is carried out for limited time such as 1-10 minutes, several times daily. Essential oil inhalation includes:

- Inhalation direct from the bottle
- Personal inhaler (aroma stick)
- Steam inhalation


Diffusion
Essential oils can be diffused for mood management. They can also be used as an adjunct for respiratory issues. These can be used intermittently such as 30 to 60 minutes on. You can use them as:
- Aroma jewelry in which essential oil is attached to clothing
- Any type of diffuser such as nebulizer or candle burner
Topical
Essential oils are diluted to any type of base. They are usually applied close to the problem area. They work best for:
- Cosmeceutical applications like dandruff and oily skin
- Skin disease such as fungal infections, eczema, and acne
- Wound healing, insect bites, and stings
- Menstrual pain, joint pain, nerve pain, and muscle pain


Combination
Essential oils can be used as a combination of inhalation and topical applications. They are useful in relieving:
- Asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory tract problems
- Severe and/or chronic pain
